The Watford City Trash Pandas picked up a win at Hudsonville Park, taking down the Hudsonville Flanderses, 4-3. Starting pitcher Jorge Ortega was a big reason why. Iván Mendoza came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed 2 runs on 3 hits in 2 innings. His record now stands at 1-1. Eliot Thompson closed the game out for Watford City, earning his 4th save.
Watford City used the timely hitting of Lanny Oliver to capture the win. The left fielder socked a 3-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Trash Pandas ahead, 4-1. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a big one.
"Jorge was throwing free and easy," said Watford City manager Bob Sosa.
The win brings the Trash Pandas to 4-13, an awful start for a team that made the playoffs just last season.
