Behind a solid performance from first baseman Juan Andrés Martí, the Ft. Worth Cattlemen defeated the Toledo Stingers, 4-2. Martí was 2 for 3 with a home run, a double, and 2 walks for the Cattlemen. The winner in relief was Monte Evans. He is now 2-1. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2.1 innings. Marc Potts picked up the save, his 5th.
Ft. Worth used the timely hitting of Amani Marwan to seize the win. The right fielder stroked a 2-run single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Cattlemen on top, 4-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
After the game, Ft. Worth manager Scott Thompson applauded the team's effort. "They busted their tails out there," he said.
With the win, Ft. Worth goes to 11-9.
