Crossbeaus Take Down Hounds, 3-2
|
Hound Pound was the site of the home opener for the Hicksville Hounds. The contest featured a prime matchup between David Uribe of the visiting Beaumont Crossbeaus and David Jordan of the Hounds. The final score was 3-2, the Crossbeaus getting the win. David Uribe turned in the best performance. Beaumont reliever Kidlat Zayco picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. David Jordan shouldered the loss.
Beaumont used the clutch hitting of Jean-Christophe Martin to capture the win. The catcher drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Crossbeaus ahead, 3-2. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a big one.
Afterward, Crossbeaus manager Stephen Richards was ebullient. "That was a fun game to coach," he told a group of reporters, adding, "I hope it was just as fun to watch."
