Athletic Club KC Beats South Beach, 9-7
|
The Ballpark on the Beach was the site for USPL Single A action featuring the South Beach Blaze and Athletic Club KC U-24.
South Beach got a terrific game from designated hitter Sam Stewart. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Athletic Club KC, 9-7. Stewart was 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. William Spencer was called on to finish, recording his 14th save.
Athletic Club KC relied on the hitting of Thad Conley to pick up the win. The third baseman clubbed a grand slam home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the U-24 on top, 6-0. For the game, Conley had 1 home run and 1 single in 3 at-bats.
"We'll take this win and move on," said Conley.
The 6th-place U-24 sport a record of 26-28.
