Laredo and Athletic Club KC duked it out and the Hawks came out victorious.
The Laredo Hawks picked up a win at ACKC Youth Field, knocking off the Athletic Club KC U-24, 5-4. Starting pitcher Michael Wright played a key role in the triumph. Sosa Kiyomizu, now 2-0, was credited with the win. He allowed no runs on 1 hit, while striking out 3 and walking 0. Jim Lee got credit for the save for Laredo. It was his 4th of the year.
John Robinson aided the Laredo cause with a run-scoring walk in the top of the seventh. For the game, the shortstop was 1-4 with a walk.
"We'll savor this win," Wright told the Laredo Times, "then get ready for the next game."
Laredo raised its record to 30-19 with the win.
