River Rats Snatch Late Win
|
The Columbia River Rats topped the Myrtle Beach Seahawks, 5-1, in USPL Single A action at Seahwaks Stadium. The game was highlighted by the performance of Columbia pitcher Glenn Taylor. The 6th-place River Rats sport a record of 18-23.
Columbia got the win thanks to a clutch hit from Mitchell Hogg. The center fielder stroked a bases-clearing double in the top of the eighth inning to put the River Rats ahead, 5-1. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it had a major impact on the outcome.
Hogg said afterward that he was glad to contribute to the win.
