The Long Island Lighthouse eked out a 3-2 win versus the Vancouver Grey Wolves at Wolf Den in Vancouver. Nobody did more than pitcher Manuel Martínez. He was terrific. Martínez got the win, improving to 3-0. He allowed 6 hits and walked 4 over 8.1 innings. Martínez allowed 2 runs. Imbart Theunen earned the save for Long Island, his 5th.

Long Island used a timely hit from Carlos Vélez to get the win. The left fielder stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Lighthouse ahead, 3-2. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it made an impact.

"I just try to go out and give it 100 percent every game," Martínez told a local reporter after the game. "That's my mantra, and like today, it will pay off more often than not."

Long Island is now 7-10.
