The Laredo Hawks topped the Monroeville Yinzers, 7-3, in USPL Single A action at Dragoons War Memorial Stadium. The standout performance belonged to Laredo pitcher and Burnt Store Marina, Florida, native Ric Nelson. Nelson, now 5-2, was the winner. In 6.2 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 11, walking 4, and allowing 3 runs. Johnny Bowling got the save, the 1st for him this season.

Dong-hua Gan, the 24-year old center fielder , had a direct impact on the outcome. Gan contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the second inning to put Laredo up, 2-0.

"It's a mindset," said Nelson. "Just trying to do your job, trying to be consistent."

The 4th-place Hawks have won 4 straight games.
