Hawks Pick Up 4-3 Win
|
The Laredo Hawks did just enough to sneak past the Smoky Mountain Hobeaus, 4-3, at Hawks Field. Laredo pitcher Damon Colcott, in particular, had a standout performance. Colcott went 5 innings to notch the win. He scattered 2 hits, walked 4, and struck out 4. His record improves to 2-3. The 4th-place Hawks now have a win-loss record of 21-14.
The Hawks got an important contribution from left fielder Pat Johnson, who in the bottom of the fourth hit a changeup into right for a solo home run. It was his 5th home run of the season and put the Hawks ahead, 4-1.
"Both teams played hard," said Laredo manager Oliver Burrell.
