Crawdads Rally to Eke Out Win
|
The South Beach Blaze got a sterling performance from pitcher Lloyd Best, but the Cut Off Crawdads still prevailed, 4-3. Best threw 5.1 innings of 3-hit ball. The win was credited to Tomás Velásquez in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Juan Carrillo took the loss. The third-place Crawdads have won 4 in a row.
Cut Off used the clutch hitting of Walt Sellek to capture the win. The center fielder drilled a solo home run in the top of the tenth inning to put the Crawdads ahead, 4-3. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a big one.
Sellek said his team "played with focus."
