Smoky Mountain beat Grand Forks on the strength of starter Reynaldo López's fine effort. The left-hander led his team to a win, 6-3. López, now 2-4, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 5, walking 1, and allowing 3 runs. Picking up the save was Yok-sing Zhou, his 5th.
The Hobeaus got an important contribution from third baseman Robert Lancaster, who in the top of the third knocked a first pitch sinker into right-center for a 2-run triple. It was his 2nd triple of the season and put the Hobeaus ahead, 4-0.
"We'll pop the top on a cold beverage and get back to work tomorrow," López said.
Smoky Mountain, with the win, climbs to 8-23.
