South Beach and Grand Forks got after it at The Cocoon.
South Beach used a superb performance from starting pitcher Lloyd Best to down the Grand Forks Caterpillars, 3-0. In 6 innings, Best surrendered 2 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 2. He allowed no runs.
Tied up with the Caterpillars in the top of the fifth inning, the Blaze got a boost from first baseman Natalino Desidrio. With runners on 1st and 3rd, Desidrio saw a 2-2 fastball from Juan Martínez and hit a run-scoring single to break the stalemate and put South Beach on top, 1-0.
"You come to the ballpark to do your job and that's what I did today," Best told the South Beach Times.
The Blaze now own a record of 15-6.
