Crawdads Prevail, 6-5, Over Columbia
|
Columbia Stadium was the site of an exciting ballgame between the Cut Off Crawdads and Columbia River Rats.
The Cut Off Crawdads weathered a fine game by Columbia third baseman Andy McGee to upend the River Rats, 6-5, at Columbia Stadium. McGee was 2 for 4 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Cut Off reliever Ted Mitchell picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Joe Hunt absorbed the loss. Al Hussey earned the save, his 5th.
The Crawdads got a big boost from designated hitter Artie Cook who had a run-scoring walk in the top of the sixth inning off River Rats hurler Andrew Callahan. It was his 9th walk of the season and put Cut Off on top, 6-5.
"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said Cut Off manager Manuel Barrios.
For the River Rats, the loss makes their record 5-9.
