Yinzers Get One-Run Win at Grand Forks
|
The Monroeville Yinzers defeated the Grand Forks Caterpillars, 2-1, in USPL Single A action at The Cocoon. Monroeville pitcher Jorge Martínez had a standout performance. The winning pitcher was Martínez, now 2-0. He tossed 6.1 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 8. Earning his 4th save of the year was Ken Lewis.
A crucial at-bat came with the bases empty and no one out in the top of the seventh inning. That's when third baseman Chris Teoh, who leads the PA in triples with 3, hit a triple. The Yinzers went on to win.
"It was a tough night at the plate," said Grand Forks manager Milton Mathews.
The Caterpillars fall to 5-8 and continue their lackluster start in 2053.
