The Matlacha Manatees beat the Levittown Blue Dragons, 4-1. Matlacha pitcher and Batavia, New York, native Juan Rodríguez led the way. Rodríguez, the winner, moves to 1-0. He threw 7 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 7 and giving up 1 walk. Eric Wheaton recorded his 1st save for Matlacha.

Matlacha right fielder Miguel Rivas helped his team take an early lead. In the top of the first, with the bases loaded, he hit a sacrifice fly.

"Whenever we hold the other team to one run," said Manatees manager Jorge Villanueva, "I like our chances."
