Gallos Pull Off Thrilling 1-0 Win in Extras
|
Levittown pitcher Gary McIldowie gave the Gallos all they could handle, but in the end, Delmarva left The Cave at Levittown with a win, 1-0. McIldowie allowed no runs on 5 hits over 8 innings. Otis Mullen, now 3-1, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 5 innings. Getting the save was Elton Johnson, his 2nd.
Delmarva needed the clutch hitting of Terry Betancourt to notch the win. The left fielder hammered a solo home run in the top of the tenth inning to put the Gallos on top, 1-0. For the game, Betancourt had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"This kind of game is tough on the heart," said winning manager Jonah Moody.
Delmarva's record now stands at 36-27, placing them third in the Silver A.
