Pitching was the name of the game in a tight contest between the Walla Walla Walleye and the Alameda Airmen. Walla Walla won it, 3-1. Walla Walla starter David Rubin was in command. Rubin picked up the win for Walla Walla, going 5.1 innings. He gave up 1 run on 3 hits. He now sports a record of 7-2. José Torres recorded the save for Walla Walla, his 7th of the season.
It could have been a different outcome for Walla Walla, had it not been for Stephan Tietmeyer, the 22-year old first baseman . Tietmeyer contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the first inning to put Walla Walla up, 2-0.
"It was a solid team effort," said Tietmeyer after the game.
