Manatees Get Past Grim for 3-2 Win
|
The Matlacha Manatees faced a tough opponent in Grim pitcher Ed Moore, but did just enough to pull out the victory at The Coffin by a final score of 3-2. Moore went 6.1 innings and allowed 1 run. Tony Rodríguez got credit for the win, improving to 2-1. He allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2.2 innings. The save went to Victor Jones, number 14 for him.
Runs were few and far between in this one. So, Pat Schmidt's at-bat with one out in the top of the eighth was crucial. The Matlacha first baseman hit a sacrifice fly, to give his team a 3-2 lead.
"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," Schmidt told the Matlacha News.
Matlacha has a 3-game win streak, while Grim has lost 3 in a row.
