The Baltimore Bullets got a sterling performance from pitcher Perry Cox, but the Vancouver Grey Wolves still prevailed, 5-4. Cox threw 5.0 innings of 3-hit ball. Earl Hicks, now 1-0, was credited with the win. He allowed no runs on 1 hit, while striking out 2 and walking 1. The win takes Vancouver to 4-4.
Vancouver needed the clutch hitting of Basilio Penni to notch the win. The first baseman hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Grey Wolves on top, 5-4. For the game, Penni had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Vancouver manager David Krause.
