The Matlacha Manatees defeated the Eugene Vandals, 8-1, in USSL Single A action at Fuller Park. Matlacha pitcher Silas Brown had a standout performance. Ijsbert Pelikaan earned the save, his 1st, for the Manatees. The win puts Matlacha at 20-17 this season.

Jorge Rodríguez dealt the Vandals a blow in the bottom of the second. Batting with the bases loaded and Matlacha leading 1-0, Rodríguez hit a 1-1 slider for a run-scoring single.

"Our goal is to improve each and every day," Brown told the Matlacha News.
