Airmen Squelch Blue Dragons Offense in Shutout Win
|
Alameda Airmen starter Spencer McCarthy pitched a strong game against the Levittown Blue Dragons at The Cave at Levittown, leading the Airmen to victory, 4-0. McCarthy picked up the win for Alameda, going 6.1 innings. He gave up no runs on 3 hits. He now sports a record of 2-0. Getting the save was Vince Zwijnenburg, his 1st.
Alameda used a well-timed hit by Frank Petty to capture the win. The shortstop socked a 2-run double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Airmen ahead, 3-0. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.
"I liked his command," said Alameda manager Gonzalo Féliz. "Spencer was throwing strikes."
With the win, the Airmen improved to 18-13.
