In a low-scoring contest, Huntington pitcher Colton Phillips was marvelous in his team's 2-1 win. The winner was Huntington reliever Ralph Thompson, now 1-1. The loser was Phil Murphy. The save was credited to Marshall Dooley, his 7th.
Had Jackie Daytona not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Daytona hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Hermit Crabs.
"We put some tough at-bats on some tough pitches," said Huntington manager Rodrige Margalha.
Today's win puts Huntington at 19-7, while Alameda falls to 15-11.
