Grim starter Ed Moore had a strong outing against the Matlacha Manatees at Fuller Park. The left-hander was a big part of his team's 4-3 win. Steve Cooley earned the win after being called from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 1 hit in 2 innings. He upped his record to 2-0. Greg Concepción earned the save, his 6th.
Had Kjeld Stam not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 3rd, Stam hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Reapers.
Matlacha manager Jorge Villanueva said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
The 5th-place Reapers lifted their record to 11-9.
