Fuller Park was the site of a tense game between the Matlacha Manatees and Walla Walla Walleye.

In a tight game between the Walla Walla Walleye and the Matlacha Manatees, pitcher David Rubin was terrific on the mound. The Walla Walla right-hander helped his team to the 2-1 win. The winning pitcher was Rubin, now 2-0. He tossed 7.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 0 and fanning 7.

Tied up with the Manatees in the top of the fifth inning, the Walleye got a boost from right fielder Wayne Narborough. With a runner on 2nd, Narborough saw a 1-0 fastball from Michael Ross and hit a run-scoring single to break the stalemate and put Walla Walla on top, 2-1.

Rubin told the Walla Walla Citizen: "I think I thrive on conflict. It brings out my best."

Early on, the Walleye, at 12-3, have played an impressive brand of baseball.
