The timely hitting of Brett Taylor helped the Eugene Vandals down the Alameda Airmen, 8-6. Taylor was 2-4 with a home run, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2 for the Vandals. Curt Whitley got the win, improving to 2-1. He pitched 5.2 innings, giving up 5 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 3 and walking 4. The win moves Eugene to a record of 4-10.

The Vandals got a big hit from second baseman Miguel Ramírez. In the bottom of the fifth, Ramírez pounded a 2-run double to left. His 2nd double of the season put the Vandals ahead, 7-3.

"The clubhouse can get insufferable after we lose, so I'm glad we pulled this one out today," Taylor told the Eugene Daily.
