Niagara Falls Gets Riveting Walk-Off Win
|
The Niagara Falls Expos faced a tough opponent in Belleville pitcher Sam van Elswijk, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Waterfall Park by a final score of 3-1. van Elswijk went 7 innings and allowed no runs. Niagara Falls reliever Chad Edwards picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Dominique Leclère took the loss. Niagara Falls now sits at 34-45, while Belleville falls to 24-55.
The game came to a dramatic end. In the bottom of the ninth, with Niagara Falls trailing 1-0, Arlen Russell hit a fastball from Dominique Leclère for a 3-run home run, giving the Expos the walk-off win.
"What a buzz," said Russell after it was over.
