Late Magic Gets Mancelona 5-4 Win
|
Rocky Mountain got a valiant performance from pitcher Seiichi Nakagawa, but it wasn't enough to beat the Mancelona Torch. Mancelona won the game, 5-4. Nakagawa threw 7.2 innings of 5-hit ball for the losing team. The win was credited to Gerjan Wemerman in relief. His record improves to 6-5. Jussi-Pekka Hostikka took the loss. The Torch, at 27-42, sit in 10th place in the Menard's A.
The Torch were down to their last out in the bottom of the ninth when third baseman Kevin Swanson turned a 2-2 cutter from Jussi-Pekka Hostikka into a 2-run single. The walk-off single sent a roar through the crowd and gave Mancelona a thrilling 5-4 win.
"This place sure got loud," said Joe Wilson, the Mancelona manager.
