Chiefs Win, 8-6, at Alaskan
|
Caldwell took on Alaskan in front of a lively crowd.
Behind a solid performance from first baseman Étienne Duchesne, the Caldwell Chiefs defeated the Alaskan Bush Pilots, 8-6. Duchesne went 2-5 with a home run and a double. He drove in 4 runs and scored once for the Chiefs. Joey Greco earned save number 18 this season.
Duchesne had a big hit for Caldwell with two out in the top of the fourth. With Caldwell leading 4-2, Duchesne hit a bases-clearing double. It was his 6th double of the season and put the Chiefs up, 7-2.
Chiefs manager Kevin Fields wasn't all too pleased, despite the win, telling reporters that the performance highlighted some clear areas for improvement moving forward. He refused to be more specific, however. "I'm not gonna publicize our weaknesses," he said. "That stuff stays in the clubhouse."
The Chiefs improve their record to 33-34 with the win over Alaskan.
