Chiefs Rough Up Torch, 14-0
|
The Caldwell Chiefs trumped the Mancelona Torch, 14-0, at Torch Field. Caldwell left fielder Thomas Spencer was terrific. He slugged 2 home runs. He scored 5 times and drove in 6. John Williams, the winner, goes to 6-1. He allowed no runs on 3 hits, with 6 walks and 6 strikeouts over 5.1 innings. The Torch, at 23-35, have lost 6 in a row.
Caldwell relied on the hitting of Greg García to pick up the win. The right fielder clubbed a 3-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Chiefs on top, 3-0. For the game, García had 2 home runs and 2 singles in 4 at-bats.
