Thomas Helps Chicago Cruise to 11-0 Win
|
John Thomas had a 5-RBI game, during Chicago's 11-0 triumph over the Washington Generals. Thomas contributed 2 singles and 2 home runs to the cause. Mark Weston, the winner, improved to 2-1. He held the Generals to no runs on 3 hits over 6.2 innings, while striking out 13 and walking 2. With the win, the Tula improved to 24-20.
Chicago used a well-timed hit by Vicente González to capture the win. The designated hitter socked a 2-run double in the top of the first inning to put the Tula ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 1 at-bat, it was important.
"The boys were really swinging the bats today," winning manager John Sirica said.
