Godfathers Beat Bulls, 8-5
|
Pontiac and Belleville duked it out and the Godfathers came out victorious.
The Pontiac Godfathers picked up a win at Pontiac Copperdome, taking down the Belleville Bulls, 8-5. Starting pitcher Paul Ray was a big reason why. Ray went 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 2, and struck out 8. His record improves to 2-2. Gil Childers closed the door for Pontiac, picking up his 10th save of the year.
In the bottom of the fourth, Pontiac center fielder Jerry Padgett had a productive at-bat. With the bases loaded and two out, Padgett stroked a run-scoring single to center. It made the score 2-0, Pontiac. For the game, he was 2 for 5 with 2 singles.
"We swung the bats good throughout the lineup," said Pontiac skipper Allen Yohemas.
Their 21-22 record puts the Godfathers 6th in the Menard's A.
