Expos Lose Late, 8-7
|
The Chicago Tula turned back the Niagara Falls Expos, 8-7, at Ramblers Ballpark. Ricardo Ortega, in particular, had a fine performance. He went 4-5 with 4 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Ernest Goodman got credit for the win, improving to 2-2. He allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2.1 innings. With the victory, the Tula record now stands at 17-16.
The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the ninth. With two out, Ortega hit a fastball from Jack Kelly for a run-scoring single. The Tula, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.
"There's nothing like the buzz of a walk-off win," Ortega said.
