Idaho Falls Gets Riveting Walk-Off Win
|
Idaho Falls Park was host to some intense drama.
John Barnard was superb against Alaskan. The left-hander, who is tied for 3rd in the 3A with a 0.79 WHIP, had a changeup that was virtually unhittable at times. The result was a Chukars victory. The score was 3-2. The win belongs to Sonny Hoover in relief. His record improves to 1-1. Michael Humphreys took the loss for Alaskan.
The Chukars were down to their last out in the bottom of the ninth when center fielder Bao-tian Yang turned a 2-1 fastball from Michael Humphreys into a 2-run double. The walk-off double electrified the Idaho Falls Park denizens and sent the Chukars home with a thrilling 3-2 win.
Afterward, Chukars manager Will Thomas was ebullient. "That was a fun game to coach," he told a group of reporters, adding, "I hope it was just as fun to watch."
The Chukars, at 17-12, have now won 4 straight.
