Highlanders Deal Whales 1-0 Loss
|
Connor Drake pitched well enough to win, but it was not to be. The Virginia Beach Whales, despite Drake's fine outing, dropped a 1-0 decision to the Asheville Highlanders at Virginia Beach Grounds. The losses continue to mount for Virginia Beach, which has now dropped 7 in a row.
Nathan Pretty, the 22-year old second baseman , had a direct impact on the outcome. Pretty contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the fifth inning to put Asheville up, 1-0.
"I'm proud of the way we took care of business and got the 'W' today," Pretty told the Asheville Times. "Whatever it takes."
