Polar Bears Pull Even With 4-3 Victory
|
The Billings Polar Bears topped the Squirrel Hill Pierogis, 4-3, in USPL Double A action at The Igloo. The game was highlighted by the performance of Billings pitcher Rubén Enríquez. The winner in relief was Bob Robinson. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 1.2 innings. He now owns a record of 9-3. Larry Pulsifer was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 2 of 3 save opportunities.
Also having an impact was shortstop John Thomas, who stroked a 2-run triple in the bottom of the fifth for Billings. For the game, Thomas went 1-4 with a triple. He drove in 2 runs.
"I don't feel you win baseball games by working harder than the other team or 'wanting it more,'" Thomas told the Billings Today. "You win just by scoring more runs."
The Polar Bears sit in 4th place in the Premier AA with a record of 45-45.
