Chad Valdés was a vital contributor to the 7-3 Billings victory over Virginia Beach. The Polar Bears left fielder was 1-2 with a double and 3 walks, while scoring 3. Adriaan Cornelis closed it out for his 2nd save. Billings has now won 5 straight.

The Whales had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Polar Bears going into the top of the second inning. That changed quickly when the 24-year old catcher Mark Howell came to the plate. Howell hit a 2-run home run on a 1-0 cutter from Virginia Beach hurler Keanu Kolora. It was Howell's 9th home run of the year.

"I believe in our guys," said Billings skipper Steve Ferguson. "I like the energy they're playing with."
