9-2 Loss Extends Ithaca Skid
|
Getting a good performance from second baseman Nathan Pretty, the Asheville Highlanders defeated the Ithaca Fighting Imps, 9-2. Pretty went 3 for 4 with 3 singles and a walk. He scored 2 times for the Highlanders. The current losing streak for Ithaca has reached 6 games.
The Fighting Imps had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Highlanders going into the bottom of the third inning. That changed quickly when the 22-year old third baseman Pete Hill came to the plate. Hill hit a 2-run double on a first pitch fastball from Ithaca hurler Luis Martínez. It was Hill's 5th double of the year.
"We've hit a rough patch right now," said Ithaca skipper Albert Pérez.
