Late Magic Gets Billings 3-2 Win
|
The Gulf Coast Turbeaus got a sterling performance from pitcher Alastair Lewis, but the Billings Polar Bears still prevailed, 3-2. Lewis threw 6.0 innings of 1-hit ball. Billings reliever Bob Robinson picked up the win, upping his record to 6-3. Mario Noceda took the loss. The 6th-place Polar Bears go to 33-39.
The game was at a stalemate until pinch hitter Roberto Xochicale came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Gulf Coast pitcher Mario Noceda, he hit a 1-0 slider for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Billings on top, 3-2.
"You get some opportunities, you better take advantage of them," said Gulf Coast manager Mike Norman.
