Torch Fell Herons, 6-3

The Mancelona Torch picked up a win at Torch Field, taking down the Holy City Herons, 6-3. Starting pitcher Nathan Mitchell was a big reason why. Mitchell, now 3-0, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 4, walking 2, and allowing 2 runs. Tom Evans picked up the save for Mancelona, his 1st of the year.
The Herons had been locked in a 2-2 tie with the Torch going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 20-year old first baseman Gabriel Salinas came to the plate. Salinas hit a 2-run double on a first pitch fastball from Holy City hurler Nick Middleton. It was Salinas's 6th double of the year.
"We had a good game plan," Mitchell said, "and we were able to execute it."
The loss drops Holy City to 7-10.
