The Billings Polar Bears weathered an outstanding game by Virginia Beach second baseman Jimmy Johns to topple the Whales, 9-8. Johns was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. Reliever Bob Robinson picked up the win. His record improves to 4-3. Edgard Mendoza took the loss. Billings is now 30-38, Virginia Beach 28-40.

Billings took a 9-8 lead on John Thomas's 6th home run of the season. The 3-run home run, which Thomas hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Virginia Beach pitcher Edgard Mendoza shaking his head.

"Winning is the only thing that really matters," Thomas told the Billings Today. "If you can win without even breaking a sweat, more power to you."
