3-1 Loss Extends Virginia Beach Losing Streak
|
In a low-scoring affair between the Gulf Coast Turbeaus and the Virginia Beach Whales, pitcher Héctor Peña was the difference between victory and defeat. The Gulf Coast right-hander earned accolades in the 3-1 Turbeaus win. Peña went 6.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 2, and struck out 3. His record improves to 3-5. The save was credited to Milo Clark, his 3rd.
Gulf Coast used the timely hitting of Dale Edwards to seize the win. The third baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Turbeaus on top, 3-1. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We're scuffling right now," said losing manager Marv Bradford.
The Whales, now 24-32, have lost 6 straight.
