Fighting Imps Cut Down Polar Bears, 5-2
|
The Ithaca Fighting Imps dealt the Billings Polar Bears a 5-2 loss at The Igloo. Jeffrey Sparks was the star on offense. He was 2-3 with a home run, a triple, and 2 walks, while scoring 3 runs. Picking up the win was Shigetoki Kato. He went 6 innings, allowing 1 run on 2 hits. The right--hander struck out 6 and walked 4. The third-place Fighting Imps lifted their record to 30-24.
Ithaca relied on the hitting of Marc Porter to pick up the win. The center fielder ripped a 2-run triple in the top of the seventh inning to put the Fighting Imps on top, 4-1. For the game, Porter had 1 triple and 2 singles in 5 at-bats.
"There were things that we could've improved upon," said Fighting Imps manager Albert Pérez, "but all in all, I'm satisfied with our performance."
