Whales Get One-Run Win at Ithaca
The Virginia Beach Whales beat the Ithaca Fighting Imps by a score of 4-3. Virginia Beach center fielder Jim Willis deserved the lion's share of the credit. Willis was 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk for the Whales. Virginia Beach reliever Dave Browning got the win, raising his record to 1-1. Chet Walker was tagged with the loss. Peter O'Farrell closed it out for his 14th save.

Will Moore put Virginia Beach in front, 4-1, when he hit a 2-run home run off Chet Walker in the top of the fourth. It was his 3rd home run of the season.

"We came out on the wrong end of this one," said Ithaca skipper Albert Pérez.

The Whales saw their record improve to 24-26.
