Screaming Eagles Saddle Whales with 2-1 Loss
The Mercer Island Screaming Eagles defeated the Virginia Beach Whales, 2-1, in USPL Double A action at Virginia Beach Grounds. Mercer Island pitcher Nick Johnston had a standout performance. Johnston, now 4-0, was the winner. In 5.2 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 2, walking 1, and allowing 1 run. Gustavo Carrillo was called on to finish, recording his 3rd save.

Brian Neame broke a 1-1 tie in the top of the sixth with a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It put the Screaming Eagles in front, 2-1. For the game, Neame went 1 for 3.

"The old adage is true," said Neame. "Good pitching stops good hitting."

The Premier AA-leading Screaming Eagles are 35-10.
