Fighting Imps Edge Past Turbeaus, 3-2
|
The Ithaca Fighting Imps turned back the Gulf Coast Turbeaus, 3-2, at Mobile Home Park. Olvido Doesburg, in particular, had a fine performance. He went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Ithaca reliever Emery Kehler picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. Otis Luhgow was saddled with the loss. Wan-hua Yi nailed down his 6th save.
Doesburg had a game-changing home run in the top of the ninth. On a first pitch fastball from Otis Luhgow, he banged a solo home run to left, giving the Fighting Imps a 3-2 lead. It was the 3rd home run of the year for Doesburg.
"Nice to see our side come away with the win," Doesburg said after the game.
The Turbeaus, at 16-27, have lost 4 in a row.
