Polar Bears Pull Even With 1-0 Victory
|
Pitching was the name of the game in a tight contest between the Billings Polar Bears and the Mercer Island Screaming Eagles. Billings won it, 1-0. Billings starter Horace Bender was in command. Bob Robinson, now 2-1, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 3 innings. Billings now owns a record of 19-19.
The Polar Bears got a big boost from catcher Ben Fox who had a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the bottom of the seventh inning off Screaming Eagles hurler Jeff Cook. It was his 1st RBI of the season and put Billings on top, 1-0.
"Not too many highlights on our side," said losing manager Ricardo Vargas.
