The Virginia Beach Whales had to overcome a fine performance from Crescent City pitcher Wyatt Butler to grab a 2-0 win at Virginia Beach Grounds. Butler allowed 2 runs over 7.1 innings. Peter O'Farrell earned the save for Virginia Beach, his 11th. The win puts the Whales at 17-19, while the Krewe drop to 21-15.

The game was on the line with two out in the top of the eighth inning, but Marcel Traas didn't flinch. With a runner on 1st and Crescent City trailing 1-0, Traas retired Wu-ti Huang to end the threat. "Nothing to it," said Traas, with a wink.
