Virginia Beach had no answer for Crescent City Krewe starter Vincent Sturm, who flummoxed Whales hitters as the Krewe cruised to victory, 7-1. Sturm got the win, improving to 4-2. He allowed 2 hits and walked 3 over 5.1 innings. Sturm allowed no runs. Virginia Beach, at 16-19, has lost 4 straight.
Weiner Blau helped out the Crescent City cause in the top of the second inning with a run-scoring sacrifice fly. For the game, the catcher went 1 for 4.
"If we keep hitting the ball well, the wins will pile up," said Crescent City skipper David Martínez.
