Late Rally by Krewe Locks Up 6-4 Win
|
Virginia Beach center fielder Jim Willis had a good game in a losing cause. His team fell, 6-4, to Crescent City at Virginia Beach Grounds. Willis went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 doubles, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Greg Carter snagged the win in relief. In 3 innings, the right-hander allowed no runs on no hits. He's now 1-1 on the season. Jack MacAlonie closed the door for Crescent City, picking up his 10th save of the year.
Crescent City used the timely hitting of Keng-chi Zhou to seize the win. The second baseman stroked a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Krewe on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We'll kick back tonight and enjoy this win," said Zhou.
The triumph puts Crescent City at 20-14 for the season.
