Getting offensive support from Chris Jones, the Squirrel Hill Pierogis topped the Ithaca Fighting Imps, 6-1. Jones went 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for the Pierogis. The Pierogis saw their record improve to 12-15.
Nicolae Ispas was a prime factor in the win for the Pierogis. In the bottom of the third with one out, the 27-year old catcher hit a run-scoring single. He was 1-3 with a walk, while scoring 2 times.
"Good win for us," said Ispas. "Now we'll focus on the next one."
